- It can’t be so simple.
- What if it is?
Finished binge watching Six Feet under after losing my grandpa, and man. I think the fact that I’m personally in mourning made me forgive and even be charmed by a lot of the show’s flaws, but in the end when this show is at it’s best it’s REALLY good, when it’s at it’s worst it’s like a weird, sort of bizarrely funny death-themed cartoon that’s ridiculous and charming in that bad-movie way. (okay when it’s really at its worst is when Ruth is way out of character in the last season, but they fix that)
But it was really wonderfully cathartic for me and I wanted to talk about it. :V I found it really cool that there are women of multiple age ranges given agency and sexuality, PTSD is treated in a way that felt relevant to my own experiences, it’s not just another parade of white faces, nuanced portrayals of a interracial gay couple in freaking 2002, idk. For all this show is weird as shit sometimes (and for all I will always find Nate repugnant, though the show kind of agreed with me on that and made it okay), it feels oddly ahead of its time in a lot of ways.
I’m just really sad I’ve run out of show. :V Best way for me to learn how to say goodbye to my grandpa. Raymond Earl Glaze 1932-2014
